As the demand for awareness and knowledge about sustainability and alternative energy increases, the Renewable Energy Program of Emphasis at Winter Springs exposes students to emerging technologies related to energy. The program provides an overview of renewable and nonrenewable energy resources reflecting how energy impacts the environment and the economy from regional, state, national and global perspectives. Extensive hands-on laboratory activities are vital components of the curriculum.

Students will learn about the production of electrical energy from solar, wind and other renewable energy sources. Graduates may begin their careers as electricians or electrical energy technicians in the solar, wind, biofuels, hydrogen, energy auditing, photovoltaic, or energy management segments of the electrical energy industry. Advanced electricians and technicians will be needed to design, install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, automate, and monitor equipment associated with electrical and renewable energy systems.
